Following basic training, Petty Officer Brammer attended Aviation Electrician.s Mate .A. School in San Diego and was later assigned to Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi for training in Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS).

 Petty Officer Brammer was assigned to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. Petty Officer Brammer died while on active duty in the Naval Service. His body was returned to his home town of Bingham, Nebraska under military escort. He was inurned at the Bingham Cemetery in Bingham, Nebraska with full military honors.
